Before the music, I would like to spin a bit on the 3rd annual Capital Audio Fest.
#1 with a bullet is Gary Gill. Can't say enough, praise enough or thank enough, Mr. Gill...
I would also like to thank all of you, the attendees.
Those who came to room 187, spent time with me and dug what I was doing, thank you.
I also want to give a big thanks to all of you who kept coming back and listening for hours.
Finally, for those loyal High Water Sound friends who come back year after year, you're awesome!
For all of you, I can't thank you enough.
This means a great deal to me and I truly appreciate each and everyone of you.
By the way, for those who couldn't attend, THE SYSTEM ROCKED!!!!

Capital Audio Festival 2012/Room 187

The house keeper assigned to cleaning room 187 couldn't have been more rude or disinterested in doing her job. Each time I asked politely if we could get a vacuum or a wash, I was ignored but, still answered with a scowl...Nice!
Then there was the little man or more appropriately, the small man from the hotel's staff who waved his finger in my face at 9:30 AM on Sat. morning. He went off berating me for playing music before 10AM. Really, this is why you are banging on my door like a crazy person? What do you think was going on in the hotel that weekend, a prayer meeting?
It seemed that every hotel staff employee I came in contact with was bordering on an antisocial behavioral regiment. I have never encountered a hotel staff that was more rude, less caring and just generally, not giving a shit about their job, the guest or how they were representing the hotel.
Shame on you Crown Plaza Rockville, Md.
Attendance seemed to be down from the year before. This was somewhat disappointing and troubling.
Then there was the one attendee, yes, there always seem to be one. You know, the rude man who is more important than anyone else listening. The one who had to disturb everyone with his self importance/ egocentric, bullshit about how much better digital is than vinyl and according to this person, HE CAN PROVE IT! Haven't you got the memo by now, dude, no one cares. Wasn't it obvious to you by the reaction from everyone in the room (including your 2 buddies) that you acted like a dim witted jerk.
THIS NOW BRINGS UP AN IMPORTANT POINT:
If you come to a show and visit anyone's room, not just mine but, any exhibitors', BE RESPECTFUL! We, as exhibitors, go way out of our way to put these shows together. It's a tremendous amount of work, tons of money and time that you just will never get back.
We all can't like the same things and we shouldn't but, we all can be appreciative and respectful.
Finally, YES, my room was warm and at times, DAMN HOT.
No, I wasn't going for an all inclusive tropical theme (even though the thought is quite appealing).
And No, I wasn't trying to punish beltway residences or hold those who reside and or work in Washington D.C. responsible for all the lies, pandering to special interest, inhumanity, depravity and what seems to be an almost total disregard towards the majority of the American populace.
No, it really was this simple, the AC blower could not be regulated.
This meant it was stupid loud with a tornado like air flow which totally destroyed the music.
Therefore, why would I destroy what I worked so hard to achieve?
I WAS AND I ALWAYS WILL, PUT THE MUSIC FIRST.
Setting up a show in a shit hotel is not easy. In reality, doing these shows are a bit of a marathon.
Bad food, little sleep and an amazing amount of stress both physically and mentally.
I had to be in that room 10-12 hours a day, spinning, talking and if you will, performing.
No one feels the heat, stress or more appropriately at times, the world crushing in on my very soul but, none of that matters. What matters is the music, presented as pure as possible with as few compromises as possible. This is the High Water Sound way, this is my way.
